Shannon is my 7 years old boxer. She was my father's dog. When he died, I decided to keep her at home with my 2 dogs. Dogs at home means great pleasure. Believe me or not but my boxer is able to speak and I understand what she wants to say. I hope I keep her with me for the next 10 years.

All of your dogs are beautiful and your stories brought tears to my eyes. Having a boxer of my own, they are your best friend. Had lots of dogs and boxers are best by far. Gr8 x

Hi ahalya!
Thanks for popping by and commenting. Say hi to Leica and Chloe for me.
-------
Rene and Carola, Nice to meet you both, you're obviously in love with your dogs and very articulate too. I agree with all you said. Except perhaps the marriage part.
------
Hi Margaret, it's very nice to see you again.
Really sounds like Boris is fitting right in to me. Cat opinions to one side.
I'm glad you're getting away for a bit. It might be a little difficult at first But I'm sure the folks in Kerry will love meeting Boris and Boris will love the new places and faces. You have a great time Margaret.
-------
Hey Colleye Jean-Marie!
I don't know if I've ever had a Belgium post here before so that's great. Though I'm sorry to hear your Dad passed on.
As for speaking to your dogs well, I think we all do understanding them is of course another matter. I'm sure you do understand her so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
I think most dog owners have a reasonable idea what their dogs are thinking
-----------
Hello Deborah, It's nice to meet you.
Boxers are the best of friends indeed.
Thanks for popping by.
Thanks everyone for the comments, Sorry I've not been around as much of late, it's been busy, partly with some work for this site.

Hi all again
Paul, was just thinking about how you could get more pics on the site. If you wanted you could always send the pictures up to me, and I shall scan them in and then e-mail/post them back to you. Just a thought, it wouldnt be a problem, and would be good to see more pics on the site anyway.
For Becy E: I dont have another dog apart from George my 5 month boxer, but my other family members do. When were visiting with my girlfriends dad (he has a very old lab) they both get all over excited for a little while. But once they settle down they are fine together. When they first met it was a nightmare, but we sort of just left them to get on with it and everything calmed down. Now they are best mates when they see each other and go walkies together! Its a funny combination as wee George is small still and has bags of energy and Layla (lab) trying to keep up in her older years! Think it also helps her cause she wasnt doing too well a while back but she somehow seems a little rejuvinated by George.
I also have a cat called Geoff and he was seriously put out by George at first but we did the same with them two, just let them get on with it really. Now the cats the boss and can often be seen getting lifts around the house with his paws attached round poor Georges neck! Quite funny and he doesnt put his claws out or nothing, is very delicate with him but also quite boisterous and playful. Its even funnier when George attempts to chase the cat out of his cat flap!!!
Anyway hope everyone is fine, and Paul the offer is there if you wish.

Hi there Paul!
Nice to speak to you again. You're incredibly generous and I have to say I'm very grateful for the offer.
However for the moment I don't think I'll take you up on the offer.
For a couple of reasons. I'm currently doing a lot of work on some changes there will be to this little site. So that will come before I change any content. It's design and database work.
Once that's done, I'm not sure how long it will take hopefully not more than a couple of weeks. Once that's out the way may get back to you about it, but I really should bite the bullet and buy a scanner they're not expensive.

Hi Kyra!
I'm sorry to hear about Rolo. Have to say you're dogs have cute names. You're right, they are family.
Hannah, I'm so sorry about Marty, it's just not fair.
You'll never stop remembering Marty, a good thing, but I'm glad your thinking about getting another Boxer anyway.
I hope you live your life as you want.

Hi
I think that your site is lovely, I just my White boxer called Jasper on Tuesday, he was my special boy. I feel like a huge part of me is missing, he gave me so much love & affection, the best dog & friend that anyone could ask for, I'm totally gutted. He was one of the best things to have been in my life, truely remarkable dog.

Hey Louise,
It's terrible, so many people seem to be posting about having lost their boy or girl recently.
I'm awful sorry about Jasper but I can tell your life has been better for having had him in it.
I sometimes call Jason, Jasper. Not that it has any real relationship to his name, but then I call him all sorts of names and he always knows when it's him I'm talking too.
Thanks for popping by Louise.

Hannah, I know exactly how you are feeling, I feel like my heart has been ripped out. I'm so sorry.
Kyra, sorry to hear about Rolo. Your spot on, Jasper was my family, my little boy.
A heart felt sorry to everyone out there who has lost their boxer, time is a great healer they say, only time will tell!

Paul, your a star. You don't know how much it helps to know that there are other people out their that care about their pets as much as I do. Jasper was only 6 years old & his time to go was so sudden, I still can't believe it, it hurts so badly. I realy appreaciate your kind words. Thank you

Well thanks Louise,
Empathising isn't difficult of course, especially if you've been through similar things. It's just unfortunate there's not much more you can do.
Six is terribly young. It's a shame breeds like boxers have more problems than some of the more common breeds. It is getting better I think though through responsible breeding.
Look after your self k.

I am glad you shared. I have two family friends of mine who have shared their boxers with me over the years and I have come to realize they are the most human-like ogs here, that I have found. Almost "knowing" what you think and feel is incredible. I myself cannot wait to get my first boxer, for I am sold! I would like to know what Lily died of if possible. I want to be certain when I get my boxer that some of the health problems that occur in boxers do not occur in mine. Thank you!

Hi JJ,
Sorry it's taken so long to reply. I actually answered this, as best I could somewhere back in the comments here. In short I don't really know what happened to Lily.
This is a quote of what I posted before though plus I'll add some extra info at the end.
-----
"I can only take guesses, she took ill (off her food, not running around) and at first i thought nothing of it. Then she spent a whole night not really sleeping and in breathing difficulty.
The vet thought she may have eaten something and gave her a shot to calm her. She was to be brought back if it wasn't any better the next day.
In less than time than that it was obvious she wasn't getting any better She went back to the vets who was going to give her some xrays and if necessary operate.
Before he could she collapsed, when he performed an emergency operation she died of heart failure. Without an autopsy we couldn't be sure.
However when he opened her up for the emergency a great deal of fluid had came out. So perhaps peritonitis.
With hindsight i should have realised that it was serious long before i did. I still regret some things from that time. It may be if i had acted quicker initially she would still be here now."
----
What I never mentioned when I wrote that. Is that a few weeks afterwords. I was stopped by a couple of other dog walkers in the woods where my dogs regularly go for a run.
Apparently a couple of other dogs had just recently died (About the same time as Lily.) that played in those woods and in both cases poison was suspected.
So it's a possibility that there was something in the woods that was toxic that she got hold of. The truth is though I just don't know and the symptoms didn't sound similar enough to what happened to these other dogs for me to pin it down to that.

Hi Peter!
I'm sorry to hear that, it must be an awfull hard decision to have to make.
I really don't know that I can help you out though, unless perhaps you live in the west of Scotland?
I think your best bet would be one of a few things. Did you get the dog from a respectable breeder? If so it may be they will be willing to take the dog back though I wouldn't expect them to pay you. Maybe you need to forget about money though and think about the dogs best interest. Though I realise it may not be that simple.
Of course you want to make sure the pup goes to a good home, that's why speaking to the breader would be a perfect option. But Also maybe go to Boxerworld.com and ask at the forums there.
You may find a organisation or family close to your area that will be willing to take the pup. Maybe people that already have a Boxer.
Sorry I'm not much more help.

Hey me!
Um well, I mean you. I wouldn't want to be accused of talking to myself.
Thanks you for the compliments.
Yeah it'd be great if they could but hey it's not so bad. They are great even for a little while. Boxers are one of those things that makes life worth living.
Look after your dog you.

Hi Paul,
We are back from Kerry and back to the grindstone in work. We had a lovely time. The people down there were all a bit shocked to hear about Suzy and it was a bit painful having to tell everyone when they asked where she was. They were all very impressed with Boris, I have to say he is a very handsome fellow. He behaved beautifully, the only thing he did no like was being left on his own, he doesn't want this at all. We were therefore restricted in going out at night and only managed three meals out in the two weeks. We left him in the car outside the restaurant (as we were afraid he might thrash the house if left on his own) and he barked for the whole time we were in the Restaurant. We felt like very bad parents indeed. Most other places let him in so that wasn't a problem and when he is with us he just sat at our feet and behaved very well. He got us out walking every day which was good for everybody. One little hitch he did get sick down there he started throwing up, we had to bring him to the Vet's 3 times, he had a scan and all his bloods done, and everything was perfect so the Vet came to the conclusion that it was a "nervous stomach". He is fine now. Hope all is well with you. Will be in touch. Margaret.

great site - i grew up with boxers too, Anna till i was 5 - she died aged 14 of old age, then we got Candy, and what a dog she was she had 4 major op's to remove what you might call "bolders" from her guts and after the last op the vet said he could not do it again as she had no intestines left. she had a thing about swallowing things! As an adult i bought myself a lovely girl aged 3 called annie and only 2 days ago came acorss her grandduaghter so got her, she is 11 months. So now i have Granny and grandduaghter, but granny is not happy about sharing her house - she had now been sulking for 48 hours and will not speak to any of us. i think she will come round soon - i hope so anyway! Boxers are the best dogs and a real clown to have around, the new dog is already been up to mischief - she ransacked the house when we were alseep! nevermind we still love her! Great site by the way!
