I have been the proud 'sibling' to seven and a half (read on) boxers in my 27 years. The first Zeba ( a red) was around before I was born and loved all and was very protective She died of old age aged 12. Zac ( a brindle) ran out and almost got hit by my Dads car three days after Zeba died, we took care of him whilst we tried finding his owners. Sadly they never came forward but I guess he was meant for us. Zac ever the escape artist knocked me flying aged Seven and then straight in to the road where he was knocked down and killed I still blame myself 20 years later. :-(. Next was Zoe we had her for ablout two years and we took in another boxer/staff cross Ben, over the Christmas period they mated and that very mating resulted in Zeus and Chloe. Zeus was to be my boy but sadly had to be put to sleep aged just 24 hrs . Tests from the vets had shown that his heart was back to front and he was very poorly. We kept Chloe and never had her tailed docked. I had permanent bruises on my shins for almost 10 years and three months. Both Zoe and Chloe had to be put to sleep because of Cancer. The next two are the ones that are still with my Mum are Bertie aged 5 1/2 and Sophie aged 5 1/4. Bertie is a handsome white Boxer with two red patches over both eyes and ears. He is epileptic possibly due to Vaccines. His 'Sister' Sophie is pure white Very much like your Lily. She is deaf from birth but is responds very well to hand signals. Both are great and all I have to do now is to convince future husband that Boxers are better than Staffs. Great Site.

I have a boxer named Samson and every morning he comes into my room and curls up at the end of my bed. Boxers are the best breed of dogs EVER!!! Five minutes after he curls up he looks at me with shining eyes and he starts to move up until hes right beside me and I sit there for a half an hour hugging him and petting him then I shoo him out until I'm dressed then I feed him and put him outside.... hes been with me for 7 years and still has at least 4 left.

To answer the question above, Boxers are working dogs, like Rotties. APBTs (pittbulls) are terriers...a very different temperament and drive than typical working breeds! All 3 breeds are wonderful when bred and raised responsibly and lovingly. The problems lie with breeders and owners who don't take appropriate care breeding and raising temperamentally sound dogs. But most boxers fall into the catagory of natural babysitters and, as a breed, adore children! Also wondering if we can exchange links! I'll be adding this site to our links as soon as I'm done enjoying it. Our website is http://www.boxer-friends.org

Once again sorry about this comment system getting a bit long and scrolly. Also about there being no line breaks (paragraphs) in your replies. I'll be looking to fix this problem in one way or another in the next month or so. ----------------------- Julliette hi! I loved reading your history, even the sad bits. Nice to know of other people that have been boxered for life. I do hope your Fiance comes round :) -------------- Mackenzie, i'm sure samson has at least 4 years left. He reminds me of Jason who i embarsingly admit weedles his way under the covers quite often. Nice foot warmer ;). ----------- Hovig, hi! Yes i would tend to agree with Boxergrrl's comments. In favour of boxers i would also say that, whilst i have heard of both Rottweillers and PittBulls attacking children. I have never heard of a Boxer doing so. However as much as i treat my dogs as part of my family. There is a basic truth, all animals can be dangerous. Any breed of dog can turn and bite. As the owner it's your responcibility to train and socialise the animal. Which would 99.9% make sure such a a thing could never happen. In sumary though Boxers are in all my experience and knowledge great family pets for any age of children. I would think a Boxer would be a great choice. Still do some reseach don't take the advice of people like me that are biased. Have a wonderfull life and lots of fun with your doggy whatever breed. -------------------------- Boxergrrl, i've not had a proper look yet but i see no reason not to add you to the links, the site looks responcible and informative. And that's not suprising going by your post here. :)

well paul it looks like you have your own message forum going well done ! My boxer is 4 years old and his name is Oz. He is my husbands dog, and he rules us all. I have two kids who my dog adores and protects, he has done no damage to my house, just the odd slobber dangling down from the couch. as i right he is lying on his back on the couch with his legs up in the air . He sleeps on our bed every night , meaning i end up in the spare room most nights ,but thats the way we like it. As for the man who was considering a boxer just check the breeding and bring it up with respect and love and socialize it well, and if buying a male, i would have him castrated, oz kept mounting my little girl and he knocked her down, she thought it funny though ,but it had to be done and he has calmed down lots, anyway sorry for going on and on, i hope to come back , c u soon.

Hi I love my dog :) I wouldn't really call it a forum, more a glorified guestbook. Though actualy it is an option. I feel i have two. Wait for the next release of this current script which will allow this thread of comments to be split into pages and fix the line break problem or. Alternately there is a little small scale forum script that may suit, it would allow anyone to make seperate new topics or even register if they like. I'm unsure which i'll do you can see an example of it here -http://topico.jasidog.com/ i'm testing it out and seeing if it can be easily skinned. Sorry off topic. Yeah i tend to agree unless you're a breeder dogs should be spayed or castrated (whichever is apropiate :D). My dog tends to own the house to some extent too. :D Nice to meet you! :)

Hi Penn! Thank you! To be honest i do believe they hand out thousands of them. Plus the posting i put up about it made the comments page ugly so i removed it..... Changed things today so it should work in the browsers it didn't before. :D Thanks again Penn, you will need t practice your nastyness as from experience i don't think you'vr got it in you to be anything but nice.

I am the proud owner of a 12 month old female brindle boxer, named Penelope. We bought her from a breeder 6 months ago, and I could not imagine life without her. My favourite aunt and uncle had a boxer throughout my entire childhood and I have never wanted another dog. The timing was just never right to get one, now I have her I wonder how I ever got along without her, everyday is a new experience. I really enjoyed your photos and comments of your dogs.

Thanks Sharon! 12 months old, she'll be all bouncey and spindly legged :D I recently took in another dog, as a temporary favour. A rough colly i believe. Lovely dog. But after so many boxers very hard to get used to. He has really long hair that fills up with branches. Personanly i'd find it hard to have dogs other than boxers now if there's choice in the matter. I'm sure colly owners would say the same about them though. ---------------------- Hello Brian and Tracy! Thanks for commenting! :) Say hi to your girl for me!

Easier to make two posts due to the lack of paragraphs. Just when i was getting round to putting up some more pictures of the less well represented dogs and fixing or replacing this comments section. I've had a bit of a shock. ------ This is a sort of subsite to my main site, jasidog.com and was never intended as anything more. Unfortunately, although if i had the money i would love the fact. This site is getting so many hits now. The level increasing every month. That i have some hard choices to make. I've not made a final decision but i may need to close this site, as i don't think i can afford more bandwidth. Either that or make a host move which is hard because i trust the hosts i have. --- More on it latter when i've had time to look at options and think a bit.

It's so nice to hear about other boxer owner's and find out that all boxers have those same traits. boxers never fail to make me laugh! I grew up with boxers, Henry (who died aged 4 from a brain tumour) Floyd (died aged 12) and Bruno who at 3 years old is still as lively as ever! All the boxers we've had are related and from the famous Walkon breeders in Scotland. Unfortunately I've moved away from home now and hardly ever see Bruno and much to my despair my partner is frightened of dogs. Gutted to say the least that I'll probably never have the joy of owning my own boxer. :-(

Hi Bex!

Sorry to hear your partner isn't happy about getting a dog. It's a shame but maybe their feelings will change. Pehaps you could take your partner to visit your parents and Bruno.

Get him slowly used to boxers. ;)

I live in Scotland too and all mine are/were Scottish. Well born here at any rate. Some had forign parents. Jasons dad is Dutch.

As a side note do people think it would be better if comments were in the oposite order? Oldest first, newest on the last page?

Changed it a bit again, decided it was best to put it so that the newest comments were on the last page.

And changed even more, the colours had to be changed so that it wouldn't go all tripped out at 16bit colour. Also decided that i'll do whatever it takes to keep this little site online.
