Hi Paul, Sannuk and George,

Glad you like the site. Yeah there's nothing stopping making a site, it's easier than ever now too with places like wordpress.com and others you really don't need to do much if you don't want to and just provide content. :) Go for it! :)

Hey Yvefinn!

Nice to see you again. Glad to hear too that Bonnie is doing so well considering. :)

So you have another Boxer at the moment too, Rock? I think that's great, it'll make it a lot easier to deal with the trial that's ahead. Especially if he's Bonnie's pup. :)

I can tell you adore them, you take care and keep in touch. :)

Hi there Phil,

Wow that's beautiful, I'm impressed and I'm sure Yvefinn will appreciate it. :)

I was a proud human that belong to my beloved boxer,Casaba. This past Feb 2007, he went to heaven at the age of 13 years. He died from Leukemia. I thought I would die.Wanted to. I still grieve to this day. When my mother passed away, Casaba would come and put his big old paws on my shoulders and kiss away my tears. I think the dog understood english. He could sniff infection in a human! He was good with every one, old,young...who ever. In may, I adopted a rescue boxer from the local county SPCA. Her name is Precious. She had a rough life before coming to me. She only has one eye to see out of due to trama of the other one. I don't know what they did to that dog but I hope they get what they have coming to them for doing it. She was very scared for a while but when she saw she was going to be loved, she has come on around. She had everyone afraid to come into my yard but now she can't wait for visitors. I have to agree, Boxers are the past dog ever.

Hi Paul and everyone. Just thought I would pop by, Yvenini this time two years ago we were going through what you are now, we lost our beautiful Suzy on the 11th August, 2005, still miss her terribly. All you can do now is love your little baby to bits and make her time special and comfortable which I know you will. My heart breaks for you. I can still see my little girl coming bounding across the yard to meet me when I come home and I have forgotton her pain and her suffering and I now only remember the love she gave us and the good times which were so many.
On a brighter note my two are doing just fine, Pixie still misbehaving as usual I was at a friend's wedding on the 28th July, thought I looked the biz, hat and all, cleaning house last Saturday and looked around and there's my "beautiful " hat sitting in the middle of the floor looking very much the worse for wear, that's after Pixie had a go at it it looked decidely lob-sided with little bits of it missing, the joys of having a very active little white miss. Then when I give out to her she looks at me with her head to one side the picture of innocence!!! What can I say. Boris is great and such a joy to have around. We are bringing them on Holidays for two weeks from next Saturday so that should be fun, wish us luck!!! Talk soon. Margaret.

Hi folks,

Just wanted to say sorry for the insane amount of spam that was here. It actually appears every day, normally I delete a bunch of it every day but I'd been absent for a while and it built up.

The only proper solution is to use something other than this out of date software but It's difficult to move to something else and take all these comments.

I've been working on a replacement for a long time but there always seems to be something more important to do so my (manual) converting of the database isn't nearly finished.

Perhaps I'll just close this and leave it as an archive so we can move to new software faster.

I'll post on topic a bit later. :)

Hi Katrina! :)

I'm sorry about Casaba but it's nice to hear you've made the difference in Precious's life and she in yours. I hope you have many happy years!

Hi Twinker!

Thanks for dropping by, kind of you. :)

Hey Phil! My post above this one was kinda an explanation for the "idiot". Hope your doing well. :)

Hiya Margaret!

Always good to hear from you.

I'm pretty lucky with my new girl, she's older and so doesn't seem to have any destructive tendencies. Full of life and playfulness though. I remember dogs that did though and in many ways it's things like that you remember in years to come with fondness. :D

Hope you and the whole family have a great holiday! :)

just love your site. I am mad about boxer dogs and have had one male desexed named Jake that lived to 12 years, which is good 4 a boxer ( he was tan & white ). I now have a female named Roxy or Roxanne when she is naughty ( which can be quite often ). Can anyone answer me this question as i am struggling with it? I am finding that Roxy ( who is 13 months old ) is not as obedient or loyal as our male was, is this just me or has anyone else experienced the difference in the sex of the dogs? Don't get me wrong i absolutely love Roxy and would never part with her, but i need some answers? HELP!!

Hi Anna thanks for your comments and sorry you've had to wait so very long for a reply.

For what it's worth I think I've found that to be generally true. That females are a bit more mischievous. Not completely true though.

Lottie and Troy were as well behaved for me as any male dog.

I hate to keep repeating the same advice over and over but as far as I know the only way to solve behaviour problems is to train the dog. I'm sure you know though that it's almost never a quick solution. You need a lot of patience and effort. Repetition. Making sure the whole family takes a part if possible.

If you can afford it though classes might help.

Sorry if that's not much help Anna. I hope things are going well for you and Roxy at the moment though. Give her a hug for me. :)

Hey Phil!

Happy Birthday Buster! Sorry it's belated. Old boy boxers are so mellow I love em. :)

Laters,

Paul

This a test of the new spam protection "CAPTCHA" thing.

I know it's not very well placed at the moment but hopefully it works.

A word of warning to anyone trying to post at the moment. If you enter the CAPTCHA words incorrectly. Then hit the back button in your browser to try and make your comment again.

You will have lost the text of the post you made. So as a precaution please copy your comment text before trying to add it.

I'll try and see if there's a way round that soon.

Thanks Phil! :)

I know it's a pain but I just couldn't keep up with the amount of spam that was being posted. Was deleting hundreds a day.

Now if I can just get my rear in gear and finish converting the database we should have a better solution all round . :)

Looking forward to that. Margaret

Hey there Phil!

Love the Aaaah Factor. They look so cute and warm in their covers and I have a soft spot for the snowy faces of the older dogs. Hope Harvey and Buster are keeping well. :)

Hey Margaret!

Great to know your doggies are ok. I will try and rectify the lack of updates here soon.

Rosie is seven years old and a red. Very similar in looks to Jason as it happens. Just much, much smaller and female.

There's a very old picture of her when she was only a year or two old here - Piccy

Hi, I posted on your site on 16 January, 2006, about my beautiful baby Holly, who unfortunatley we lost 2 months ago. She was such a massive part of our life and we miss her every day. We have decided that it is time to have a new boxer in our life, and I am very excited as we bring her home on Monday. We may also bring home her sister (who is white with a patch over her eye, so cute) and I wondered if you could give me some advice on having two dogs the same age, are they more likely to fight etc. Thanks

Hi Emma! :)

I remember you and I'm so sorry to hear about Holly. That's sad.

I'm sure you'll have just as much love and fun with your new dog/s though. As far as having two dogs the same age goes. I've never had two the same age but I think that should be ok. I think that there is more likely a problem would be that they are the same sex.

Perhaps that would be negated by them being sisters that never were parted but I can't say as I really know.

Hopefully someone else has some experience of this they can tell us about. :)

Take care Emma. :)

CANINE RABIES VACCINE CHALLENGE STUDIES BEGIN !

One of the most important vaccine research studies in veterinary medicine is underway at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in Madison. Dr. Ronald Schultz, a leading authority on veterinary vaccines and Chair of the Department of Pathobiological Sciences, has begun concurrent 5 and 7 year challenge studies to determine the long-term duration of immunity of the canine rabies vaccine, with the goal of extending the state-mandated interval for boosters. These will be the first long-term challenge studies on the canine rabies vaccine to be published in the United States.

Dr. Schultz comments that: "We are all very excited to start this study that will hopefully demonstrate that rabies vaccines can provide a minimum of 7 years of immunity."

This research is being financed by The Rabies Challenge Fund, a charitable trust founded by pet vaccine disclosure advocate Kris L. Christine of Maine, who serves as Co-Trustee with world-renowned veterinary research scientist and practicing clinician, Dr. W. Jean Dodds of Hemopet in California. The Rabies Challenge Fund recently met its goal of $177,000 to fund the studies? first year budget with contributions from dog owners, canine groups, trainers, veterinarians, and small businesses. Annual budget goals of $150,000 for the studies must be met in the future.

Dr. Jean Dodds, DVM states: "This is the first time in my 43 years of involvement in veterinary issues that what started as a grass-roots effort to change an outmoded regulation affecting animals will be addressed scientifically by an acknowledged expert to benefit all canines in the future."

Scientific data published in 1992 by Michel Aubert and his research team demonstrated that dogs were immune to a rabies challenge 5 years after vaccination, while Dr. Schultz?s serological studies documented antibody titer counts at levels known to confer immunity to rabies 7 years post-vaccination. This data strongly suggests that state laws requiring annual or triennial rabies boosters for dogs are redundant. Because the rabies vaccine is the most potent of the veterinary vaccines and associated with significant adverse reactions, it should not be given more often than is necessary to maintain immunity. Adverse reactions such autoimmune diseases affecting the thyroid, joints, blood, eyes, skin, kidney, liver, bowel and central nervous system; anaphylactic shock; aggression; seizures; epilepsy; and fibrosarcomas at injection sites are linked to rabies vaccinations.

Study co-trustee Kris Christine adds: ?Because the USDA does not require vaccine manufacturers to provide long-term duration of immunity studies documenting maximum effectiveness when licensing their products, concerned dog owners have contributed the money to fund this research themselves. We want to ensure that rabies immunization laws are based upon independent, long-term scientific data.?

More information and regular updates on The Rabies Challenge Fund and the concurrent 5 and 7 year challenge studies it is financing can be found at the fund?s website designed by volunteer Andrea Brin at: www.RabiesChallengeFund.org.

Hi, I have just found your site....while looking for information on boxers. I found your stories of your boxers very moving and inspiring. I have a 5 year old boxer Hollie and she's my first. She is so adorable and a real mum to Heidi the jack russell who sleeps on top of Hollie. I didn't know when I got a boxer as I had no experience of them what they would be like, but for all the money in the world I wouldn't change her. I love ur site. Keep it up!

A lot of info there Kris. Luckily in this country Rabies is almost unheard of. It's one of the reasons there used to be a 6 months wait to bring any animals to Britain. It's not really a threat here.

Sounds a laudable bit of research though.

Hello Fiona! :)

Nice to see a new face! :) So glad you're loving life with Holly and Heidi. Sound like you have an excellent pairing there.

Give your pups a hug for me!

Well all these posts from the old comments system are finally ported over to this.

I'm looking into splitting them all up in to separate topics but I'm not sure. In any case if you want to post new topics now you can. You don't have to keep posting in this one.
