BEAUTIFUL!!! Job well done! I just adopted a 5 month old boxer and I named him Big Daddy I am afraid because I have been searching the web and I hear of the short lifespan and the horror diseases! He has not come home yet he will be picked up tomorrow! We are so excited but I find myself already being paranoid that my baby will have some hardships is this normal?? Well we will have the best life we can together! Excited is an understatement! Thanks for your website it makes me feel sooooo lucky to have gotten him he had over 22 applications on him and they chose me and peolple were trying to convince me to sell him!! NOPE he is our angel!

Hi Pink!
Well, I'm glad Big Daddy got himself a home where he's wanted and not an owner who just wanted to sell him on.
I don't like the idea the dog would get uprooted twice just for profit. So you're a star in my book!
I won't dissemble, Boxers are more prone to illnesses of various sorts than many other breeds.
It's unfortunate and something you find in many pedigree breeds, basically because they have been interbred too much I believe. Though I'm by no means an authority, there may be other causes.
I can't promise you nothing bad will happen Pink. What I can say is that living life like an accident is always round the next corner is no way to live.
No matter what type of dog you get, there could be problems. However Jason is now (guessing) 11 a decent age and looks like he will last a while yet. Muffin reached rounds 14 also pretty good.
The rest of my girls died or were put to sleep due to illness. However not all those illnesses where something you could say was caused because they were Boxers. Also even in those cases many had reasonably long lives for dogs.
Lives I like to think were better for having us. Certainly ours were better for having them.
This I can almost guarantee you Pink, no matter what happens, no matter how long you have your Boxer you'll never regret it.
Just look after Big Daddy as best you can and try not to worry about what you can't legislate for.
Look into these things for sure and if you feel it can help you take any precautions, then great. Just don't get obsessed or worry overly about it though.
Thanks for stopping by Pink!

Pink, firstly i thinks its fantastic u didnt sell Big Daddy!!!! And yes it is normal!! I am the same i worry about my dog (who is 8 months) all the time. Even now i am slightly obsessed with hid diet reading endless books on Raw/BARF diets hoping that will better his health for life. However Paul is right i guess we cant live life worrying about everything all the time! Again its great u re keeping Big Daddy boxers are the best dogs to have around!!
