Hi Jean,
I really can't say what your vet may do next. As I've never really had this problem.
One of my dogs did have hair loss yes, but due to other reasons. I did take a quick look around on the web for information and there is a lot. However a lot may not be relevant to you.
If I was to guess, I think the vet is likely to go back to the treatment that worked in the past.
When next you see him, just have a good talk. Ask about what possible courses of action there could be or if it could even, possibly, be something else that is causing these symptoms in Max.
Sorry I've not been much help. I do hope Max gets well soon. Give him a big hug for me!

Hi again Jean!
From what you said, visual diagnosis or not. I got the impression that thyroxine had cleared up Max's problems before?
If so then i guess the diagnosis must have been pretty good.
As I say, I'd guess the vet will go back to what works.
I am just guessing though, I'm no expert.
Both Muffin and Troy, many years ago had a hair loss problem but in that case it was caused by some mite and it eventually got cleared up through special washes if I remember rightly.
Have fun discovering the nerdy world of computers jean. There's a lot to be said for them and a lot of good fun to be had. Of course like anything there's myriad downsides to computers and the net but don;t let that put you off.
Take care,
Paul

Hi sdroch!
I'm afraid it's very unlikely you'll get a reply. As the author of this topic started it way back in 2005. All the posts here used to be in one big topic until recently when they were split into separate topics. When we changed the backend software. So some old posts are near the front.
What I would say about your Daisy sdroch, is that bald spots can be caused by many things and so although it's possible Daisy's are caused by a thyroid problem it could be due to something else entirely.
Once my own dogs had some sort of mite that ruined their coats in a similar fashion. It was easily fixed though.
Have you taken Daisy to the vets?
