Hi all

This is a great web site and for those of you that read this I need your help.

I have a boxer Sam who is 9 who is one of two (also have GS). Due to circumstances our friend of ten years has decided to give up his boxer ? Mmmm well his new wife who is 5 months pregnant gave him an ultimatum!!!! He is heart broken as you can imagine and I have agreed to try slowly and take my time to in introduce Dino who is 3 (Boxer Male).
Took all three out for the first time and there was a lot of teeth showing and the new boxer kept mounting strongly my boxer sam. We had to seperate them a lot.

I have therefore decided to have Dino castrated and really hope this works. I have done a lot of reading up but any further advice anybody can give me would be much appreciated. I really don't want this to fail.

Thank you for your time

Hi Julia. :)

Sorry so long to respond. I think that if your decided to do this then yes. You need to castrate Dino. It would be wise even if he was only a single dog.

I'm not really sure what advice to give other than that. Whoever the dominant dog is of your current two re-enforce this dogs position.

I don'tmean to say be nsty to Dino but just show some favouritism to the dominant dog/s.

Little things like giving them any treats, attention first.

This will reinforce their own position in the pack and let Dino know hisplace. There is less likely to be trouble then.

I must say I've never had three dogs so I'm not sure how complex it can get.

Perhaps Steve will be around he's the man with the best answers :D

Good luck! Let us know how things go Julia. :)

That's exactly what I think too, Dino will learn his place before long, as long as you're consistant in the way you treat the pack. Gotta say tho, your friend is losing more than just a dog, but one of the best baby-sitters ever!! Boxers love babies! maybe if the new wife spent a bit of time with you and your two, she might relent a bit and give Dino a chance?
