Welcome to the new and hopefully improved talk section.
All the old comments have been imported into this new forum system. This couldn't have been done without the help of a friend of mine named Adam who did all the hard work. So many thanks to Adam!
It should be a lot easier to use than before. There's some points to make though.
I should also say that the old posts were imported into one topic but currently this topic is being split up as best as possible.
1/ Searches will not find any of the old imported posts unfortunately.
2/ Guest can post as before. You'll have to answer a simple maths question for the session to make sure you're not a robot though.
3/ You can now make your own topics instead of replying the the same one constantly.
4/ You can keep up with RSS
5/ You can register to gain some basic benefits. Like subscribing to topics (emailed when there are new posts in a topic.). Your have own username no one else can have and topics changing colour if there are new posts as shown in the image below.

Also no more maths questions if you're logged in.
The decision to use the new software, UseBB is for several reasons. Our old software was no longer in development and had become unfit for the purpose i was being used for. UseBB is simple, I didn't want one of those big many featured forum software out there. So simple was important.
It allows guest posting with anti spam measures (we'll see how good they are.) and "single forum mode". So no need to click through a forum to get to the topics. They're on the front page. Oh and it's open source, always a bonus.
None the less squeezing it into this little site design (which in truth could do with being redone.) was a bit of a task and there may be bugs with the design. It could certainly look better in places.
So any problems with the forum or the design just post a topic to let me know.

Hey Phil! Nice to see you again, hope you're well.
How're Buster and Harvey doing?
Yes things are better than they were, I've still got a deal of work splitting up the old posts into separate topics where possible. Should have that done by the end of the week though or earlier.
I don't actually envisage this getting used that much, used to get more posts a year or two ago. But it's still better to be on software that gets updated for security etc.

Hi Paul haven't been in touch for a while crazy in work. All is well with
Boris and Pixie and they are doing great. My husband is more or less
with them all the time now so they are completely spoiled, getting loads
of walks and of course company. How are Murphy Betty and Rosie?
doing great I hope.
Ill go for now Paul. Looking forward to the weekend and spending time
with "my family".
Regards.
Margaret.

Hey Margaret!
Glad to hear your both you and the whole family are keeping well.
I've not seen Murphy and Betty in a while but they're doing great last i knew. They seem so big now.
Rosie hasn't been having the best of times. I think I've mentioned before that she has bad hind leg. She had an accident with a bike when she was younger I believe.
Well that seemed to get to be a lot more of a problem for her. So we had x-rays done and it turns out that as well arthritis in both her knee and hip she had a torn ligament. The guess is that the ligament is a new thing. Though it's possible it's been like that long term.
Added to that I was worried about her in some other ways. She'd had been in season and then suffered what seemed a false pregnancy. She'd been off her food quite a bit and seemed to get exhausted very easily. Part of it was doubtless the heat but I thought it more than that.
They did chest x-rays at the same time as the leg and saw she had a slightly enlarged heart and a little fluid in the lungs.
Neither should be a problem in that the fluid should clear up with more exercise.
She'd been kept on the lead when in season and then had her bad leg and couldn't go to far. So not a lot of good exercise in a long while
She's been taking pills for her arthritis and she now seems a lot better. Much more her old self. When she finishes these pills I'll take her back and see what they say about her heart but they gave the impression before that it wasn't a serious issue.
So, things haven't been so good for her but as I've been saying it seems the worst is passed now.
Thankfully.
Speak to you later Margaret, great t hear from you!
Paul

Hi I am new as well, we have two beautiful white boxers. Ty is a rescue dog and is 4 he is also deaf but can hear a cookie jar open before it is open!! Mabel is two and still a baby. Everyone who comes to our house gets the full boxer treatment, they may come with not liking boxers but go away totally in love with them.

Hello again Sam!
Hi Mabel! Welcome.
Sounds like you have a great family. You know now you mention it I don't think I've ever had anyone seem overly bothered by my dogs when they come to the house. I suppose they maybe wouldn't say.
No one's ever asked me to keep the dogs away from though.
Anyway, thanks for letting us know about your boy and girl. They sound wonderful!

Hello again Paul, hows things. Buster has reached the grand old age of 12 and he is doin fine, he is still jumpin around like a flea, I cant believe how active he is, although a few weeks back he seemed to be ever so slow and lathargic, I thought he was going to leave us but he didnt thankfully. Harvey is fine also having just passed the 9 yr mark and like Buster still as mad lol. All the best Phil.
How do I add my site to your links page Paul?
#14 Posted on: Sun Sep 07, 2008 8:32 pm
Hey Phil, nice to see you and glad to see hear that Buster is alright! That's great news. I had a similar problem a while back with Rosie. There were a good few contributing factors but I was pretty worried for a while too.
12 is an excellent age! Just like puppies have their magic. The older dogs have a great character, they're very cool.
About the links, there's no automated process I just add something if asked and if I want to. You should have a link up now. If you want it to say anything in particular let me know.

Thanks for the reply Paul, and the link is spot on
Nice to see you are getting new visitors to your site and it seems all the problems you had before are now sorted (spammers, idiots etc). On the subject of people coming into our house, I find that once the boys have had a sniff, and the visitor acknowledges them they normally just go back to kip or whatever. I have noticed however, that if it is only Harvey that greets them, he is very sheepish and submissive, but once buster comes on the scene, he more active and seems to bark a lot, perhaps he is a chicken at heart lol.
All the best Paul

Hey Phil! You're welcome. :)
That's funny about Harvey. Most of mine have been pretty outgoing and trusting but Lottie was different. She didn't trust anyone she didn't know.
When a stranger came in the house she would hide upstairs or if trapped in the same room hide behind a couch or something. Maybe sit up behind you. :D
When you were out with her you culdn't really stop to talk to anyone because she would pull desperatly backwards on the lead until she'd slipped her collar. She had a real knack of that. It just made you very protective of her though. :)
New posters yeah, we've had a couple in the last week. Really though we get one or two posts every six months or something. :D Which is fine, though a few more and a bit more regular wouldn't hurt.
I'f I'd wanted to develop the site when it had more visiters I could have but I never wanted it to be more than a little place for my Dogs. Didn't want it to be too much work or to have the extra size and features it would need for that.
